The opening event for the nursery, which first opened its doors in September, brought together staff, children and parents, alongside representatives and partners of Bright Horizons and UCAS.

Following the official ribbon cutting by Mary Curnock Cook, Chief Executive of UCAS and Denise Priest, Director of Employer Partnerships at Bright Horizons, attendees enjoyed cake and nibbles that were freshly prepared by the chef in the nursery kitchen.

The new nursery, officially named Bright Horizons Rosehill Day Nursery and Preschool, primarily supports staff at UCAS’ Rosehill office on New Barn Lane in Cheltenham, with a number of spaces available to families in the local community.

The 50 place nursery provides high-quality care and education for children aged from three months to five years. It is one of over 200 nurseries in the UK and Ireland operated by Bright Horizons, of which around 50 are managed in partnership with employers.

Denise Priest, Director of Employer Partnerships at Bright Horizons, said, “We are delighted that UCAS, a leading organisation in the education sector, has chosen to partner with Bright Horizons to create this wonderful nursery. We know from listening to our many client-partners and their employees how much a workplace nursery means to working families. We’re very proud to be part of this project, which we know will greatly benefit both UCAS and the local community.”

Mary Curnock Cook, UCAS’ Chief Executive, said:  “My long-held ambition to provide UCAS parents with a nursery has been fulfilled.  And I’m on record as saying that outreach should start early – I hope to welcome many of these delightful children as customers of UCAS when they apply for university!”
