What is it? The Duinrell Campsite is 0.5 km from the beach at Wassenaar, and right next door to massive theme park and indoor water park (the big bonus is you get in free to both if you’re staying at the site!).
Where? Just outside The Hague in the southern Netherlands.
Description: [kids_in_the_park.jpg]Looking for a half-term break that won’t break the bank? Jo Waters spent Whitsun week at the Dutch seaside resort of Wassenaar at the Duinrell Campsite in a Eurocamp mobile home.
Value-for-money destination not too far from home for a week’s holiday. Great for a beach holiday, cycling, plus lots of entertainment on site if the weather fails. Close enough for day trips to Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam.
Sun, sand and sea will keep adults and children alike occupied for hours. And when the weather is bad, there is always the indoor pool complex…
Like all caravan parks, planned entertainment is available in the evenings. We preferred to be a bit intrepid and seek out our own.
Parc animateur in high summer season organising games and group activities, plus children’s discos.
Not many, but nice pancakes! And we DID love the sauna…
Local activities: The possibilities are endless – your kids will never dare say the dreaded “I’m bored”. Hire bikes for just 7 Euros a day or Go Karts for ten. Visit the roller coasters and carousels at the theme park for free; ride the rapids at the indoor Tikki Water Park (free between 10 am and 2pm). Cycle to the beach on the brilliant and totally safe cycle lanes. Let the kids get more adrenaline thrills at the two adventure playgrounds.
