Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey is Deezer’s most streamed fashion-related song of all time, according to new research.
Taken from her debut album, Born to Die, Blue Jeans fought off competition from Madonna’s Vogue which was the best-selling single of 1990 and Elvis Presley’s classic, Blue Suede Shoes.
Paulo Nutini’s New Shoes, and Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake, also secured a place in the top five.
A spokesman for Deezer, who conducted the research in celebration of London Fashion Week said: “Fashion and music have always gone hand in hand, it’s interesting to see such a diverse selection of artists old and new in these lists.”
Madonna featured again with Material Girl, followed by Fashion Killa by A$AP Rocky, and Lily Allen’s live rendition of Not Fair at the Chanel Spring 2010 show.
Amy Winehouse’s F*ck Me Pumps also appeared in the top 10.
And David Bowie’s Fashion also appeared in the top 20 list. Following his death in 2016, Bowie was awarded five posthumous awards in this year’s Grammys ceremony.
Controversial Kanye West also scooped a place in the list, with White Dress scooping 19th place. Also known as Yeezy, the American rapper unveiled his fifth fashion collection in February to positive responses from critics.
I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself by The White Stripes made an unexpected appearance. The video featuring Kate Moss took 11th place.
Lady Gaga’s Fashion! also featured. The American singer songwriter made a stir at the MTV Video Music Awards when she appeared in a dress made entirely of raw meat.
The spokesman for Deezer said: “It’s surprising to see David Bowie outside of the top ten list – being the pioneer for an entire music generation.
One common factor about the featured artists is that they all have a unique style and image that is distinctively their own- from Madonna’s ever-changing chameleon looks to Gaga’s outrageous and quirky style.”
Also featured on the list was Michael Jackson. The King of Pop’s hit In the Closet tells the story of a secret relationship between lovers.
Surprise contenders for the top twenty also included Lipgloss by Pulp and Raspberry Beret by Prince and the Revolution.
Freedom by George Michael, Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top and Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag by James Brown completed the top 20.
