Five Christmas movies, four inches of snow and three pigs in blankets have been revealed as the formula for the perfect Christmas.
A survey of 2,000 adults delved into the nation’s would-be perfect Christmas day and discovered Brits think the ideal occasion requires receiving seven presents on average.
Time plays a significant factor, with the majority of adults believing the best time to wake up is 7:56am and the optimal time to enjoy Christmas dinner is 2:33pm.
According to the research, the most important aspects for an impeccable Christmas are getting all the family together, having a real tree and eating turkey.
The survey also revealed how money loving Brits consider cash to be the ideal gift to receive on the big day.
A fragrance, a book and alcohol were also considered faultless gifts.
Sophie Barton of Marks & Spencer said: “The Christmas season is a particularly important time of the year as customers are on the hunt for the perfect gifts to impress their family and closest friends.”
The ultimate Christmas scent, according to one in 10, is the roast dinner cooking, as well as cinnamon and mulled wine.
When it comes to entertainment, the perfect song to listen to while eating Christmas dinner was revealed as The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York.
And the most popular film to be watched on Christmas Day is Home Alone, closely followed by Miracle on 34th Street, showing how much we still appreciate the classics.
Every year decorations divide opinion, from colourful flashing lights to minimalist monochromatics, but the survey discovered you can’t go wrong with a real tree, baubles and a wreath on the door.
A pine tree came out on top as the most popular tree of choice according to 37 per cent of respondents.
Two thirds of adults said their perfect Christmas would be spent with their partner and four in 10 would choose their own home as their location of choice to spend the day.
The highlight of the day for many – dinner – would have to include roast potatoes in order to be ‘perfect’, according to 75 per cent.
In addition, pigs in blankets, stuffing and gravy are also a must in order to create the ideal meal according to over half of Brits.
Barton added: “Fragrances are always top of everyone’s gift list and a lovely present for him this year is the exclusive Jaguar Stance – its spicy and woody accords make it truly special and perfect for the season.”
