It’s just undergone a L10m refurbishment and redevelopment. They’ve added a spa and spruced up the rooms. And the four-star hotel offers some special packages which are perfect for families – particularly the Christmas and Legoland breaks.
This hotel is a great base from which to explore things nearby. It doesn’t offer kids clubs or kiddie-friendly activities as routine, although it does lay on certain events for special packages. The Legoland package includes a two-day pass into nearby Legoland, a free fun pack and Lego toy. Festive packages include a trip to the panto, visit from Father Christmas, games and goody bags, plus a special registration for the children on arrival. What the kids can use, however, is the new 18-metre swimming pool. It’s open to children at certain times every day throughout the year – typically for a couple of hours in the morning, and three in the afternoon. And the hotel is surrounded by small landscaped gardens, so there’s space for the kids to let off a little steam. They also get a kid’s pack of crayons and colouring and puzzle books on arrival.
There’s a baby grand piano in the restaurant – all very civilised. Or PlayStation is available in your room at extra charge – much less civilised but probably more popular among the youngsters!
