Each year, without fail, my family “The Steeds” (Simon, Georgina, William and myself – owners of Entertain the Kids) celebrate the New Year with a traditional Pantomime at our local, iconic theatre “The Plaza, Stockport

We all know the story of Cinderella, so I won’t go into detail – you can find out the details for yourself direct from The Plaza, Stockport

Gary Damer

Needs no introduction but Gary Damer @TVsGaryDamer always steals the show for us – his humour pitched just right for both adults and children alike and this year he did not let us down – indeed he did justice to his role as “Buttons”.

Already, we have booked our front row tickets for Snow White for New Year 2015 – do we book the Panto for the kids? Not at all – we laugh from start to finish – a fabulous way to end the year.

Indeed, this year, William (5yr) was invited on stage to assist Gary with I am the Music Man – we think Gary was in for a shock himself this year with the latest “troublesome tot” why not check out Gary’s Tweets to find out if it was part of the act – we think not.  We have included a short video of the children in action – hilarious doesn’t quite cut it – no other images or videos were recorded due to being prohibited by The Plaza. William is the little boy in the green top #ProudParents I’m so glad Simon was there to take the video because I was paralised by laughter – yes, that is me you can hear giggling away in the background.

Gary is more than Panto – just Google his name and be treated by a trip down memory lane of what seems to be a rewarding career.  We all know and love Roy & Hayley Cropper – in June 2001 Gary appeared on our screens as their foster son “Wayne Hayes” and yes, sorry Gary, I have included a couple of images here too.

The Plaza, Stockport

The Plaza, Stockport has been restored to it’s former glory and you can be kept up to date on the restoration on The Plaza, Stockport website.

They have a “Just Giving” page should you wish to donate – every penny goes towards the restoration as we believe the staff who look after the Theatre, the Cast and Crew and us “The Audience” are volunteers.

Indeed you can sponsor a seat and have a name plaque fixed to the rear of a seat for 5yr for a £250 donation.  You can find more information and download the application form here.

Booking your tickets

You can book your tickets in a variety of ways but if you call into The Plaza, Stockport booking office (situated next door) you will pay no booking fees and you get the pleasure of talking to the staff who are so proud of their theatre and are a joy to talk to.

What’s on at The Plaza?

By far too many to mention but you can find the “What’s on Guide” on The Plaza, Stockport website – there really is something for everybody.
