All the books are happy in Brian’s busy library. Thriller or Textbook, History or Romance – they all love to be borrowed. But one day Brian goes all quiet. And so does his library. Doesn’t Brian care about his books anymore? And what’s that – is that a funny, shiny-looking book that says it has four billion pages? Will they all be left on the shelf?
The books had better stiffen their spines, because to save their library they may have to check themselves out… MONSTRO theatre’s latest pioneering puppet musical tells the story of the story in the digital age, using song, puppetry and dynamic performance.
Bookstory is a new family show from composer, director and playwright Ben Glasstone (The Mouse Queen, Fantastic Mr. Fox). This magical musical comedy about books and their place in our lives is coming to Barnsley as part of its UK tour of libraries and theatres.
“Original songs so hummable, West End composers should take note…Don’t bother about a small child as a pretext: just go.” Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard
“…impossible for anyone, of any age, to resist …It’s a wonderfully inventive work that genuinely has something to say – and has terrific fun saying it. A joy.” The Times
Bookstory is at The Civic on Sunday 6 November at 2.30pm. Tickets are £8 full price, £6 concessions and £5 child. Recommended for ages 5+.
