Jonathon Westley, 52, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, I had to double take.

“I thought maybe I’d had a few too many the night before and was seeing things.

“I don’t mind it being there though, provided it’s not part of that Pokemon Go nonsense.

Tracey Jones, 47, said: “I think it’s added a little spark to the town.

“They must have been very sneaky getting him up though because I don’t think anyone here knows anything about it.

Lord John was died in 1860, aged 50.

His family, the Buccleuchs, are still one of the largest private landowners in Europe with extensive holdings in Scotland.
